    FIBO AND THE ENVIRONMENT

    Sustainable panels

Fibo is leading in the development and production of wallpanels for use in wetrooms and other demanding environments where high resistance to moisture and durability is essential.
This gives us great insight and engagement to solve the challenges our customers have, in a way that's both sustainable and answers the customers demands for design and expression.
Our opinion is that design development kombined with being environmentally conscious is a goal for future competitiveness.
Our panels are produced of clean types of wood, which are all PEFC aproved and we take conscious decisions of suppliers to make sure we can live up to our goal of sustainability in all stages of production.
    1952
Fibo is born, and even then with great engagement for the environment and great focus on which materials we use.
    1997
Near the end of the '90s Fibo became wetroom certified.
    2005
    Fibo patented Aqualock
    2016
Fibo started building a low emission factory in Lyngdal.

Fibo has been the primary producer of wallpanel since 1952, and is still leading the market with focus on continuously development of products and decors.

In the '90s the process of achieving certified according to the wet room standard (a new standard to secure the waterproofing of bathrooms from 1993).
The product got it's formal aproval in 1997, and have after this have had an adventurous ride regarding volume, quality, and development in the design department.
We pattented our waterproof panel lock, AquaLock, in the early 2000s.
We recieved the Innovation award at Bygg Reis Deg in 2005 for the 3D textures on our Crescendo line.
And we developed our "multicolour" laminate which makes milling of tile patterns in the laminate possible.

All these great development projects, together with a state of the art factory with the production control system Lean, our hypermodern machines, highly skilled operators, expert sales- and servicepeople, have all come together to create the great success we have with our Fibo Wall Panels.

We embark on a new journey and history will be written as we invest NOK 140 million in a brand new production line, which will reduce our environmental footprint even further.
This will be cruicial for sustainable development, and sustainability will be essential for a company to stay viable.

Fibo is continuously working to reach a more effective resource usage, and we use our knowledge and innovational strenght to find good solutions.

    Carbon footprint
Fibo as a company is concerned that we produce goods whilst constantly being aware of sustainability and the environment. We believe we have a commitment to reduce our environmental impact and therefore work to reduce emissions and energy consumption. It is one of the reasons that in 2016/17 we are investing more than NOK 100 million in new machinery and equipment to improve efficiency while reducing our total energy needs.
Responsibility starts at the factory. In 2017 Fibo finalizes a major reconstruction and replacement of equipment project which means we will use far less energy than previously. Meanwhile, we have much better logistics within the plant that makes transportation much more efficient. We are constantly improving our processes, on both macro and micro levels, with the environment in mind.
    EPD DECLARATION
Fibo received an EPD declaration in 2014. The acronym EPD, used in both Norwegian and international context, stands for Environmental Product Declaration. An EPD is made on the basis of a life cycle analysis (LCA). The standardised methods ensure that environmental information within the same product category is the same from one product to another regardless of region or country. The purpose is to enable customers to look at the environmental profile of the product and make an assessment and a choice where environmental consideration is part of the specification process. Fibo's EPD declaration can be used by developers when a new building has to be classified with a BREEAM Score.
    Breeam score
BREEAM NOR is a comprehensive classification system for construction - with the possibility of certification via NGBC. BREEAM NOR is a Norwegian adaptation of BREEAM International and was launched in October 2011. The points are awarded for ten areas according to performance. These points are then added together into one overall score on a scale; Pass, Good, Very Good, Excellent, Outstanding. Building types that can be assessed using BREEAM NOR criteria are offices, some types of industrial / warehouse, retail and education. It is also possible that other types of buildings can be assessed through BREEAM NOR, but then through a so-called Bespoke scheme, which means that the criteria is customized for a particular building type.
